Bio:
Frank Solano was never classically trained in music, nor did he ever play any kind of instrument growing up. What he did have was a boom box and an older sister who was heavy into this new sound that was taking the city by storm. The sound was House music and the time and place was Chicago during the late 80’s. Frank was introduced early on when he would record the WBMX weekend mixes for his big sis. He would tune in diligently every Friday and Saturday night, and record cassette tapes of the legendary Hot Mix 5 DJ sets. These tapes were the catalyst to what would be a two decade fascination with Chicago House music.
Over the years he has always kept a finger on the pulse of what was moving people in the windy city. Behind the decks Frank has had the opportunity to DJ at some of Chicago’s most historically notable House nights in the last decade. It is no shock that for 4 years he secured a residency at the famed Zentra nightclub working with prominent Chicago Powerhouse promoters such as HouseArrest and Music101, regularly warming up such heavyweights as Louie Vega, Mark Farina, and Derrick Carter.
Most recently, Frank has focused most of his creative energy on generating fundamental, inventive and deep-rooted house music. His deep house productions have been signed to such labels as Lost My Dog, Kolour Recordings, and most recently Nacho Marco’s LoudEast Recordings. Frank has also been keeping busy with composing remixes for US labels, Guesthouse, and One Thirty Recordings and Kinjo music. His collaborations with longtime friend Chris Santiago (of Santiago and Bushido) under “The 312” moniker have been routinely charted by Deep House heavyweights such as Kevin Yost and Moodymanc. With many of Frank’s productions in their final stages of release, it is no question that this bright DJ and producer will soon be adding his name alongside the incredibly stellar list of Chicago’s finest |
